Academics

Joining a sorority in college is a life-changing experience, but garnering an education is the top priority for Kappa. This is why each chapter is expected to maintain academic standards equal to or higher than their university’s or college’s all-sorority GPA. Additionally, each chapter establishes a GPA requirement for active members.

If a Kappa struggles academically, we help her through it. The Academic Excellence Team meets with her to craft an improvement plan using study tactics and time management. We want each sister to leave college with what they came for: a degree.

We are proud to say that Kappas are involved in many different honor societies such as Order of Omega, TriBeta, Golden Key and many more. We  want to make sure that all of our members accomplishments are recognized. Every week at chapter we nominate members for "Geek of the Week" in which names are put into our "smart cookie jar" and pull a name out at the end. The winner gets a small prize but all girls nominated are reported to the chapter!

A new event we put on this year was "Kappa Kareer Day" in which there were five stations scattered about the main floor of our chapter house for girls to come and rotate throughout the day. These booths dealt with information pertaining to our members' future such as resumes, time management, graduate school, interviewing for the real world, LinkedIn and internships. Members of the College of Arts and Sciences and iSchool were here to help our girls become knowledgable on these topics. It was a success and we hope to continue this tradition in the future!
